The Uncommon Angler is proud to be associated with 3-TAND — Austin Green is a member of the 3-TAND Pros+Bros Team. Look for 3-TAND reels and gear at Great Feathers.

The Uncommon Angler shop brings together a handpicked selection of gear that reflects a deep respect for the craft of fly fishing. Every item featured here is chosen with the same care that goes into a day spent stalking predatory species like musky and pike. This is not about filling a shelf with mass-produced tackle. It is about finding tools that perform when it matters—reels with smooth drag systems, rods built to handle heavy flies, and lines designed for precise presentations. Whether you are chasing smallmouth on Virginia rivers or sight-fishing for redfish along the coast, the focus remains on quality over quantity.

Through a partnership with Great Feathers, the shop connects anglers to a trusted source for fly fishing essentials. Great Feathers has long been recognized within the community for its knowledgeable staff and carefully maintained inventory. From hand-tied flies to durable leaders and tippet materials, the selection supports both the weekend wader and the seasoned guide. The collaboration allows The Uncommon Angler to offer a curated experience without losing the personal touch that defines a great local fly shop. It is a straightforward way to find reliable gear backed by decades of collective experience on the water.

The Uncommon Angler is also proud to be associated with 3-TAND, a brand that understands the demands of serious fly fishing. Austin Green is a member of the 3-TAND Pros+Bros Team, a group of anglers who push their equipment to the limit in pursuit of toothy predators and hard-fighting gamefish. 3-TAND reels are engineered with sealed drag systems and robust construction, making them a natural fit for the kind of fishing featured on this site. Whether you are throwing articulated streamers for musky or stripping flies for bass, dependable gear makes all the difference between a good day and a great one.

Beyond the gear itself, the shop reflects a broader philosophy—one that values time spent on the water over the accumulation of things. Each product is a tool for connection: to the river, the tide, the fish, and the quiet focus that fly fishing demands. The selection leans toward items that earn their place in a vest or pack through years of honest use. It is an invitation to simplify your setup and invest in pieces that perform. For those who share the uncommon pursuit of predator species with a fly rod, this shop offers a starting point built on experience and trust.
